Tanya Snow is an Inuit and Scottish settler living on the Yellowknives Dene First Nation and North Slave Metis territory. She is originally from Rankin Inlet, NU and spent the majority of her childhood growing up in Yellowknife. As a child of intergenerational residential school survivors, she spent 15 years in the NWT foster care system. After highschool, she went to college and university in Alberta.

Becoming a young mother sparked a new chapter in her life of pursuing cultural reclamation through writing, throat singing and traditional Inuit tattoos. Over the last 10 years she has been involved in regional and national events showcasing Inuit culture through the arts. She has been published in several magazine publications. Her children's book, You Come from the Stars, was published in November 2023 by Inhabit Media. This book tells a heart centered story about Inuit family planning and history. In 2022 she won Western Arctic Moving Picture's Pitch This! competition and is currently working on a film project featuring healthy Indigenous families that tell their family stories through a strength-based lens.
She is also a Board of Director for the Atti Indigenous Artists Collective who is partnering with the Northern Arts and Cultural Centre to develop northern Indigenous arts programming across the NWT. In addition, she is a Board of Director for the Yellowknife Housing Authority because she's passionate about elevating awareness and the realities of being an urban Indigenous woman healing from the results of colonization.
