Hey! I’m Meagan Taylor, a proud mother of two beautiful Indigenous children. My journey into birthwork began in 2023 when I supported my cousin, as her birth partner, for the arrival of my goddaughter. That experience profoundly impacted me, and I realized my passion for becoming a doula; with aspirations of potentially becoming a midwife.
I bring a diverse skill set to this work: having experience in health center settings and a variety of training, including tragedy navigation. With a background in community youth engagement, my personal and professional experiences have shaped my dream to serve and support families around the NWT, ensuring that birth and parenthood are empowering and fulfilling experiences.
My personal experiences in childbirth, breast/chest feeding, child-rearing, along with my deep commitment to Indigenous knowledge, further drive my dedication to provide quality care for parents during their biggest life transformation. I believe in the importance of supporting parents through every stage of pregnancy and beyond, advocating for their reproductive rights and overall well-being; all while considering their spiritual, religious, and personal preferences in birth and childrearing.
I look forward to contributing to the growing field of Indigenous birthwork and making a difference in Yellowknife and the surrounding area. My mission is for you to have a familiar face in a crowd full of health providers: one who could physically, mentally, and spiritually help the next generation of caregivers and their children.
